Lucy Pimpernel Wood is a Yorkshire-based artist with a rich visual and creative background, shaped by her upbringing on a flower farm in North Wales. She earned a BA Hons in Fine Art from Liverpool John Moores University in 2002. Her early works combined abstraction with sculptural elements, using raised wire to create dynamic, shadow-casting surfaces. This hybrid style gained national recognition, with works displayed at The Biscuit Factory Gallery in Newcastle and Flowers Gallery in London, and collected by institutions like the Grosvenor Museum.
Inspired by the Yorkshire landscape and modern masters like Barbara Hepworth and David Hockney, Wood’s work now reflects nature through layers of colour, texture, and unpredictable processes of construction, deconstruction, and reconstruction. Her innovative and confident style has earned her exhibitions in public spaces across the UK. She regularly collaborates with local communities, including Barnsley and Sheffield Councils, continuing to draw inspiration from her surroundings.
