Born and raised in Yorkshire, Tracey Hawley’s work is a heartfelt tribute to the landscapes and wildlife of her home county. Deeply inspired by the rugged beauty of the countryside around her, Tracey’s artistic journey began with a unique and sustainable twist—painting on reclaimed slates and tiles. Breathing new life into these forgotten materials remains a signature element of her practice, reflecting her connection to both place and purpose.
As her work gained popularity, Tracey expanded her practice to include large-scale canvases, allowing her to explore broader scenes while maintaining the detail and character that define her style. Her paintings often capture the charm of rural life, from sweeping moorland vistas to the animals that inhabit them, each piece infused with warmth, texture, and a deep sense of place.
In 2023, Tracey’s passion and talent earned her a spot as a wildcard entry on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year—a proud milestone in her creative journey.
Today, Tracey focuses much of her time on private commissions, working closely with clients to transform their ideas and memories into bespoke, meaningful works of art. Whether on slate, tile, or canvas, her pieces offer a timeless connection to the land, stories, and sentiments that shape us.
